Welcome to deadslackstring.com Deadslackstring Records is a record label based in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Committed to releasing the best local and international independent music, it is named after the Irish poet Patrick Kavanagh's belief that, the ultimate aim for the artist is to 'play a true note on a dead slack string.' Deadslackstring records was founded by label boss James Rider in 2001. It's roots lie in the Dublin fanzine culture , and singer songwriter scene of the early 21st century. The first release was a cdr compilation alongside the Chinese Firedrill fanzine which featured, amongst others future stars, Josh Ritter, Glen Hansard and Jape.
