Peter Delaney
Peter Delaney's 7 track debut album 'Duck Egg Blue' will be re-released on deadslackstring records on 6th June 2011. Previously available on limited cdr, Delaney's release caught the attention of many across Ireland, with his gentle, lilting melodies, and exquisite ukelele playing. Tender falsetto vocals are married with naturalistic lyrics, to weave a world of beauty and gossamer light soul. A beautiful album that the whole world needs to hear in our opinion... Peter Delaney started out with his brother Neil as part of the indie band Red Eskimo. During a band hiatus in 1995, he picked up the ukulele and started writing songs. He takes much his inspiration from Hawaiian music. The song Pariah Chimes takes its name from Hawaiian tunes such as Moana Chimes and Maui Chimes (although it doesn’t use the chiming harmonics that gives those tunes their names). His songs have a similar lilting, delicate tone as Hawaiian music, but the tunes are certainly not Hawaiian imitations. Nothing better than an intimate live recording to capture a musician's subtle nuances & in Peter's case, undoubted charm. Close your eyes and you're transported to a small Irish pub on a windy Sunday afternoon, snuggled up by the fire with a freshly drawn stout watching a man sing & play beautiful music from the bottom of his heart. Hand numbered & hand drawn in white ink, this little package is the closest you'll get this week to pure soul all the way from from Limerick, Eire. (Norman Records) |
