Richard Moult

Richard Moult is a reclusive English musician, artist and poet who currently resides in remote, rural western Scotland.  Moult has performed as part of an ensemble, or solo for over a decade. He has also worked with alternative folk group ‘Current 93,’ Irish free folk collective ‘United Bible Studies’ and is one of the founding members of the ambient/folk/classical band far Black Furlong.

'Ethe' is Moult's first full length CD release. ‘Ethe’ was recorded live on piano in July 2008 in St Leonards Parish Church in Hastings, England. Composer and musician the. bricoleur was responsible for additional 'lysergic morphing' on the release. Moult provides all the original artwork for the release.

‘Ethe’ consists of 9 tracks of solo piano, the first five tracks named 'the five daughters,' 1-5. Closest in tone to Moult's piano work on Agitated Radio Pilot's 'World Winding Down,' ‘Ethe’ showcases Moult's ability to create gentle tension with melodic and rhythmic gentility.
Recorded in a church, ‘Ethe’ very much translates the ambiance it was recorded in, conveying a real live atmosphere to proceedings. Track 7,'Star Filled Tree Blacksburg' is most reflective of this dark, chamber piece mood. Unwilling to give interviews to express his work, we’ll leave the music to speak for itself. ‘Ethe’ is recommended to fans of Michael Nyman, Current 93 and Eno.
